Diane Von Furstenberg presenting an award at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall

The week before holidays are always tricky, especially when the holiday is Thanksgiving and all I can think about is what skirt or pants have enough stretch in them to allot for the ridiculous amount of eating I plan on doing.

But when my mind wasn’t devising strategies on how to beat both of my brothers to the stuffing this year, I had the opportunity to go to some seriously incredible events including Glamour‘s Women of the Year Awards, which honored everyone including J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons, Oscar-winning documentary director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, 21st century writing genius Lena Dunham, photographer Annie Leibovitz, and five Gold-Medal Olympians.

Never in my life have I felt more inspired and optimistic while at the same time feeling totally worthless. For as I sat there awestruck by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s accomplishments and perseverance to save Pakistani women from their husbands who throw acid on their faces, I couldn’t help but wonder what the hell I’m doing writing about outfits and my need to eat stuffing?

I started this blog three years ago with the intentions of providing people with just a little moment of joy or mindlessness amidst a busy day, but now that I’m older I’m wondering if it isn’t time to start taking this blog in a different direction that reflects more on the inner workings of my mind within a sartorial bubble.

I’m really just thinking out loud here, but some of the best responses I get from you all is when I share things that are a bit more personal, like my relationship with Spanx and my frustration with balloon-wear.

Is that something you would be interested in seeing more of on here? I’d really love to know.

So, while you’re mulling that around in your noggin, peep some of this week’s happenings including my new pair of lace cat ears!

You all knew it was only a matter of time before I got myself a pair

{ Giants game with my brother }

From the moment I stepped off the plane from Miami my schedule has been ‘whoa beans’ packed. With only one night at home to start hanging things up in my brand new closet (!) (post coming soon) I would say I’m quite pleased that it’s finally Friday. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a busy week, but sometimes all I want is a night with three of my closest friends: the remote control, the tv, and the couch. Great group.

Aside from finally getting my closet, some highlights from this week include a Giants game with my brother, the Asos Fall 2012 preview (get your wallets ready, this stuff is off the charts good!), and the Tommy Hilfiger Promise Collection event where I got to meet so many of you wonderful readers!

Now I’m off to wrap up this week before date night with my couch! Have a great weekend!

Crazy Cat Lady

February 20, 2012

I have a real weakness for cat-printed clothing. Ok, fine. I have a real weakness for cats; but since this is a fashion blog, let’s stick to how cats may or may not have replaced the polka dot.

I’d like to think that it all began when Miu Miu sent out a line-up of sassy cat-printed pieces for its Spring 2010 collection* but I have a feeling it started well before then. Either way, I’ve picked up my fair share of pieces that would meow if they could, but nearly lost 9 lives when I saw the Glamour x Opening Ceremony Cat Embroidered Sweater on some of my favorite bloggers and editors during Fashion Week.

There was no question that this little sweater would soon make it’s way into my closet — though I did have some trouble deciding between the black and the white. I ultimately chose white because it reminds me of Kitten Marie from the Aristocats, but don’t be surprised if you find the black one sneaking it’s way into an outfit post in the near future…

*Note: If anyone is willing to part with any piece of this collection — namely the cat-print collar — I will gladly rip take it off your neck hands.

{ Gifted winter goodies that will unfortunately sit in a drawer for the next few months…}

Next week is already  booked with tons of meetings, events, and shoots so I’m really looking forward to a weekend of relaxation. I’ve been a sick bean for the past two days and as a result am totally wiped! Aside from watching lots of documentaries (currently on National Geographics, “Natures Fury”), I’ll be working on some DIY projects this weekend that will most likely leave my apartment in a big glittery mess.

Here are a few snapshots from this past week which was all fun and games until the mean mucous monster came into my life…

{ The coolest little girl who scooted through my shoot for an upcoming project on Monday }

{ Took my first Bikram yoga class…so much sweat }

{ Cheese class with Erin! }

{ Old school arts & crafts for a DIY project }

{ Death bed sickness = lots of tea with honey }
