Seasonal Sparkles

November 17, 2011

While we’re on the subject of holiday dresses, allow me to introduce one of my new favorite sparkly numbers from Juicy Couture. Along with being in one of those murkier colors that you all know I love, the gauzy layer on top is actually removable which means I can wear this as a full-blown sequined dress if I want (and who wouldn’t want to?).

Even though this dress is a bit too fancy shmancy for my family’s Thanksgiving dinner, I can definitely imagine putting this on for one of my favorite Christmas traditions, The Nutcracker.

Do you have a favorite holiday tradition? See more of mine over at Juicy Couture!

Over the weekend I did a major clean out of my closet. Out went pieces I forgot I even owned and in went some new goodies that I can’t stop wearing.

I finally got a pair of Acne Pistol Boots (I posted about them back in August), have a new Tom Binn’s safety pin cuff that hasn’t left my wrist since I got it, amazing new (and affordable!) make-up, and a furry vest that could easily double as a stuffed animal. Aren’t new goodies the best!?

A Matter of Business

When I first moved to New York three years ago, I had a job at Christie’s auction house and thus had to buy a slew of “work appropriate” apparel. Club Monaco, Banana Republic, and J.Crew became my best friends as I hid my more eclectic style behind tailored pants and conservative hemlines. Since leaving that job I have not had to wear such sophisticated business clothing but kept everything just in case. Last Friday was packed with back to back meetings, some being more formal than others. So, after toying around with and being entirely unsatisfied by some a-line skirts and high-waisted trousers, I reached in the back of closet to test out an old pair of black Club Monaco suit pants. Turns out, when paired with an interesting top and a raspberry lip color they’re actually much sexier and edgier than I ever thought they’d be. Just what I needed for a day focused around business that allowed my own sense of style.
