In Flight
March 11, 2011
Tomorrow morning I head back to my hometown, San Francisco, for a much needed relax and reboot session. Even though I’ve flown back-and-forth between San Francisco and New York a bajillion times, those six hours can still feel like the longest hours of my life, so what I bring on the plane is key. Here’s a list of what I bring in my carry-on, no matter what.
clockwise from top:
- Finn - Yes, it’s a rare occasion that I don’t travel without Finnie. But I mean come on! how could I possibly leave that adorable little face at home?!
- Wallet - No explanation needed there.
- Eye Mask - This is particularly crucial for those early morning and red eye flights.
- Jeremy Scott for Longchamp Tote - This bag fits just about everything I need for my in flight entertainment.
- Neck Pillow - As much as I love the window seat so I can rest my head on the wall, I don’t always get it. This neck pillow was possibly one of the best travel investments I’ve ever made.
- Teddy Bear - Yup, call me five but I still travel with my bear.
- iPad - This little piece of technology has brought a whole new meaning to long flights.
- Magazines - Nothing like a flight to catch up on the stack of magazines that have been accumulating on my coffee table.
- Notebooks - Some of my best ideas come from sheer boredom so I always make sure to have a pen and notebook when I’m idle for so many hours.
- iPhone/iPod - This goes without saying.
- A Good Book - I rarely go anywhere without a book in my handbag. I’m currently reading Just Kids by Patti Smith - definitely worth a read!

Have a GREAT time!
Snacks snacks snacks! Pre packaged peanut butter and ritz crackers are my fave. I hate spending a fortune on nasty over priced airplane food.
i love the way he is sitting on the bed, he is like your best companion. The bag is so funny, the little footsteps are a trompe l’oeil. I think you will know what to do for the next six hours, have a great flight girl
What a cute little doggy!! When flying the airplane often gets seriously cold after takeoff which is why when I fly I always bring an extra long sleeve shirt, a warm scarf, gloves and a hat (which can also double as a sleep mask.) Like you I am also never without something to read. Headphones are pretty important too and gum and mints.
