As I’m sure you all will agree, one of the best things about summertime is outdoor parties. From barbecuing to icy cool drinks to listening to chirping crickets between pleasant conversation, there really aren’t many better things than an outdoor fiesta.

One of the worst things about living in Manhattan is the lack of private outdoor space. While I have friends with backyards and beautiful rooftops, I would love more than anything to have my own picnic table and grassy area to throw summer parties and sunbathe with Finn. Since having such a luxury seems like a lifetime away, I thought I’d share one of my dream summer parties with you here, on Runway Hippie.

Aside from venturing to Target for tiki torches and paper lanterns, Anthropologie nails it when it comes to beautiful home goods. True, housewares from Anthropologie can be on the pricier side, but between their colorfully ornamented bowls and outdoor furnishings that look they came right out of a Tahitian village, I’d say they’re well worth the price.

Homemade Red Sangria

• Hors D’oeuvres•

White Bean, Parsley and Garlic Puree on top of Grilled Bread

Cheese plate with Crackers and Fruit (I mean…what’s a party without a cheese plate)

Layered Arugula, Avocado, Corn and Tomato Salad

• Entree •

Chicken or Steak Barbecued Skewers with Fresh Onion, Mushroom, Zucchini and Red Pepper

Parmesan and Basil Orzo

Homemade Angel Food Cake with Fresh Strawberries and Whipped Cream

Vanilla Ice Cream with Fresh Berries and Chocolate Sauce

Top all that off with some close friends, summer jams like Ooh La La by The Faces, and a good amount of bug spray and you’ve got yourself a slammin’ party.
