Paris, Je T’aime
While I can’t say that I miss being in school all that much, I definitely miss the long summer vacations. That antsy feeling you get five minutes before your last class of the year ends. The first official morning of vacation where you know you there isn’t a single thing that needs to be done that day. The planning that goes into how and where you’re going to spend your summer. I still have a few friends in college and they are all either graduating right now, or finishing up their last final before they embark on their summer vacation escapades. Ah, the good ol’ days.
Out of my friends, I was one of the few people that didn’t take a vacation after graduation - I moved straight to NYC and began working about two weeks later. While I am thankful for all of my opportunities and experiences, in retrospect I wish I had taken a little time off to relax before beginning the next chapter of my life.
Like most New Yorkers, right now all i can think about is getting out of the hot and humid city for the summer. I’ll be spending most of my weekends in Connecticut, but that hasn’t
satisfied my travel itch.
Today, even though I have been there a countless number of times, Paris is on my traveling mind. When I was sixteen I spent an entire summer there attending art school and can’t help but feel nostalgic for how I spent my days. From waking up and walking to my local boulangerie to get a fresh pan au chocolat and then spending the majority of the day outside drawing the beautiful landscape and architecture, to meeting friends for drinks at sunset and walking the lighted streets at night, I just can’t get Paris off my mind.
Since I don’t see a visit to Paris in my near future, perhaps I will put on some Jean Sablon and eat a baguette…
Where are you dreaming of traveling to right now?
