Preppy Summer
The last thing I would categorize my style as is “preppy”. In college, my black jeans, messy hair and vintage rock tees stood out like a sore thumb amongst a sea of Lilly Pulitzer dresses, ribbon belts and Vera Bradley handbags. I may own preppy clothing like polo shirts and boat shoes, but I rarely pair them together in a way that makes me look as though I walked right out of a JCrew catalog. However, I can’t deny that lately I have been drawn to the more conservative, Cape Cod vacationer’s look a la Audrey Hepburn.
By no means do I plan on making this my everyday style, but these easy and sophisticated looks are ideal for my upcoming summer spent along the Niantic Bay where my Mom has rented a house. Between bike riding to get a fresh ice-cream cone to playing croquet while the sun goes down, I’m not lying when I say I look forward to preppy-ing things up for a month along the shore.
